In March 2020, immediately after the global outbreak of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the demand for various medical devices increased sharply. Ever since then, stricter requirements have also been imposed on the way in which these products are marketed. As an innovative and global service provider, Oldenburger|Fritom has specialized in customized supply chain management for many years. In 2020, both existing and new customers in the medical industry called on this expertise. That is why Oldenburger|Fritom was successfully certified according to ISO 13485:2016 for medical devices in the same year.
In 2023, we were approached by one of our customers in Veendam, who expanded its services with the import of active ingredients for medicines from Asia. We were approached to take care of warehousing, value added services and distribution. The active substance in medicines is called Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API). To ensure that the quality of these substances in the supply chain is maintained, importers and distributors must have a GDP-API registration. This shows that they meet the strict requirements according to the EU guidelines for 'Good Distribution Practice' (GDP).
In cooperation with the customer, we are the first logistics service provider in the Northern Netherlands to be GDP-API registered. This means that we are authorized to store active ingredients of medicines in Veendam and distribute them worldwide.
Both the GDP-API registration and the ISO 13485 certificate demonstrate that the safety of medical devices is guaranteed with all our logistic solutions. In addition to warehousing, value added services and e-fulfillment – B2B and B2C online shop management in Veendam – we also take care of your road transportation, air freight, sea freight and freight management.
