More about the Leergeld Foundation?
The Leergeld foundation is aimed at children aged 4 to 18 who grow up in families that have restricted financial means. To prevent these children from falling into social isolation this foundation offers them activities to take part in, during and after school. Oldenburger|Fritom has been involved with the Leergeld foundation for many years.
Leergeld is a volunteer organization whose assistance is organized locally through autonomous foundations. There are now more than 100 local Leergeld foundations active in approximately 75 percent of Dutch municipalities. Each foundation focuses on children aged 4 to 18 who grow up in families that have restricted financial means.
Thousands of children in the Netherlands are, for financial reasons, not able to participate in activities that are normal for their peers. They are often left standing on the sidelines. Leergeld foundations allow these children to participate by offering curricular and extracurricular activities. As a result, they flourish, they develop knowledge and skills and they get more self-esteem.
The mission of Leergeld is to prevent social exclusion of children from families with financial problems. By participating in curricular and extracurricular activities, these children can develop their social skills and knowledge as optimally as possible. This then ensures that they can fully participate in society as adults.
Oldenburger|Fritom has been involved with the Leergeld foundation for many years. Our financial contribution is used in four focus areas: education, sports, cultural activities and well-being. Enabling children to participate in sports lessons, music lessons and to go on school trips.
