Visit to care and welfare organization De Zijlen

On February 1, Oldenburger|Fritom visited care and welfare organization De Zijlen. After a presentation and tour, our colleagues René Dale, Frans Andeweg and Marienus van der Laan spoke with De Zijlen about innovation in both organizations. This resulted in the donation of a care robot.

At the end of 2021, our CEO René Dale came into contact with PR employee Bas Scholte-Aalbes of De Zijlen. This has resulted in a partnership between the two organizations. De Zijlen is a care and welfare organization for people with an intellectual disability and has approximately 40 forms of housing in the Dutch province of Groningen. Like Oldenburger|Fritom, De Zijlen strives for social participation in the region. Another similarity is that both organizations focus on innovative solutions.

Visit and introduction
In January 2022 Eric Zwennis, chairman of the board of De Zijlen, and Bas Scholte-Aalbes visited Oldenburger│Fritom. The return visit took place on 1 February 2023. Our colleagues René, Frans and Marienus were invited to the Bloemenstaete location of De Zijlen. On behalf of De Zijlen, in addition to Eric Zwennis and Bas Scholte-Aalbes, manager, location manager and HR advisor Marcia Hagenus was also present, as was personal supervisor and digicoach Egbert Troost. Furthermore, our colleagues met Peter, one of the residents of the Bloemenstaete location.

Temi robot
After a presentation and tour, innovative projects in both organizations were discussed. De Zijlen is constantly researching care technology and expressed the wish for care robot Temi during the visit. This robot entertains the residents, brings them into contact with each other and shows them the way. In addition, the care robot provides support to the care teams in:

• Remote healthcare
• Supervision
• Daytime activities
• Process renewal
• Reception support
• Physical guidance

After the explanation, Oldenburger│Fritom decided to donate a Temi care robot to De Zijlen because of our partnership.

Bike Labyrinth
Earlier, Oldenburger|Fritom donated a Bike Labyrinth to De Zijlen. This is a screen that is placed in front of an exercise bike to take a virtual bicycle tour. The Bike Labyrinth now rotates among all the locations of De Zijlen.
