Talent needs to be nurtured. That is why Oldenburger|Fritom lends a helping hand to employees who want to realize their logistic ambitions. How do we do this? Among other things, by investing in a training course that they can follow alongside their work.
Oldenburger|Fritom has a flat organizational structure in which responsibilities and authorities are assigned as low in our organization as possible. The growth mindset is central to this. This means that we encourage all our employees to further develop themselves in their position within our organization.
Business Controlling
For example, we welcomed Jarno ten Caat, on the right in the picture, in September 2022 in the role of Report & Control employee. Jarno recently started the Controlling post-bachelor's degree program, which is made possible by the Nyenrode Business University. This program is an extension of the bachelor’s degree in Finance & Control that Jarno completed two years ago at the NHL Stenden University in Emmen.
Jarno has chosen the Business Controlling Module for his current training course. A business controller maintains an overview of developments within the organization and related matters. In addition, knowledge of financial processes, information flows, organizational structures, supply chain management and the assessment of management information are essential. The module consists of the following subjects:
• Management, Accounting & Control
• Operations & Supply Chain Management
• Finance Advanced 1
• Management of Information Provision
• Organizational Behavior: theory research skills
The Business Controlling Module started this month and runs until March 2025.
Economics and Logistics AD
Our colleague Shanna van Gigch has also indicated that she would like to follow a training course in addition to her work. Shanna has been working as an Assistant Forwarder within our Freight Forwarding business unit since January 2022. Shanna completed the Manager Transport & Logistics training course at the Dutch VET-school Noorderpoort two years ago. She recently started the training course in Economics and Logistics AD at the NHL Stenden University in Emmen.
This associate degree ties in well with her previously completed VET-school training. During this training course at NHL Stenden, she learns to work on a project basis and develops research skills. The latter are used to solve bottlenecks in the business operations of organizations.
Supply Chain Engineering
In addition to the opportunity to follow a training course alongside work, Oldenburger|Fritom regularly offers internships to students of educational institutions in the region. In this context, Mats Dale did an internship with us last year, as part of his Logistics Management training course at NHL Stenden.
During his internship, Mats conducted research into sustainable alternatives for traditional diesel trucks. Due to mutual satisfaction, we offered Mats a job as a Supply Chain Engineer. Since September 2, he has focused on project management, improvement proposals and commercial matters at Oldenburger|Fritom.
We wish Jarno and Shanna much success in their training courses and Mats in his new position!
