Sustainability Day

Today is Sustainability Day in Education. This day has been organized since 2008. Primary schools, secondary schools and VET schools throughout the Netherlands participate in this every year.

Sustainability is also a central theme at Oldenburger|Fritom in our cooperation with regional educational institutions. For example, we regularly open the doors of our BREEAM distribution center for ChecktheBizz, Noorderpoort, Deltion College and NHL Stenden. Our Continuous Improvement Manager Frans Andeweg also gives guest lectures to students on the application of BREEAM in logistics. BREEAM is the world's most used method to determine the sustainability level of buildings.

In 2018, Oldenburger|Fritom – as the first logistics service provider in the Northern part of the Netherlands – had a distribution center built according to the highest attainable BREEAM level: Outstanding (5 stars). Our distribution center has no gas connection installed. Furthermore, the buffering and infiltration facility to the neighboring site assures part of the rainwater is collected and stored in a water tank for internal usage.
