On Wednesday 22 January, Noorderpoort Logistics organized another Open Day in the Dutch city of Groningen. Oldenburger|Fritom has been working with this school for secondary vocational education for many years and was also represented at the Open Day 2025.
During this day, our Commercial Manager Marienus van der Laan and our Supply Chain Engineer Mats Dale were present on behalf of Oldenburger|Fritom. They told interested students more about our cooperation with Noorderpoort Logistics. For example, Oldenburger|Fritom regularly welcomes students who are looking for an internship as part of the following Noorderpoort Logistics programs:
The organizational structure of Oldenburger|Fritom consists of operational units, so-called business units. Within these business units we offer a wide variety of internships. The same applies to our business support department.
Career in logistics
Our colleague Marienus knows better than anyone what following a program at Noorderpoort Logistics can lead to. At the age of 16, he opted for the Transport & Logistics program at this educational institution. Not long after completing his secondary vocational education, he held the position of Logistic Support Supervisor at Oldenburger|Fritom for almost ten years.
‘AN INSPIRING AND VALUABLE OPEN DAY FOR OUR COLLEAGUES OF TOMORROW’
Marienus then decided to continue studying alongside his work. He obtained a diploma in Logistics & Supply Chain at a higher education institution and a degree in marketing. Since 2020, he has been our Commercial Manager and a member of Oldenburger|Fritom’s management team.
Marienus looks back on his schooling at Noorderpoort Logistics with great pleasure. “The program I followed here forms the basis of my career in logistics,” he says. “That is why I enjoy encouraging students to follow a course in logistics at Noorderpoort.” This was no different last Wednesday. “It was an inspiring and valuable Open Day for our colleagues of tomorrow that was once again well organized by Noorderpoort Logistics.”
