At Oldenburger|Fritom environmental management and corporate social responsibility form an important part of our organization. We are certified according to ISO 14001:2015 and level 4 of the CSR performance ladder. Our sustainable business operations are part of our long-term strategy. This is why our distribution centers in Veendam, the Netherlands, are certified according to BREEAM. We also continuously focus on efficient and sustainable transportation solutions, which enables us to significantly reduce CO2 emissions, among other things.

In 2016 Oldenburger|Fritom became the first logistic service provider in the Northern Netherlands to obtain level 4 of the CSR performance ladder. This is the standard for corporate social responsibility and consists of 5 levels. We were awarded this level based on the fact that we as an organization take into account the 3Ps (People, Planet, Profit) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The distribution centers of Oldenburger|Fritom in Veendam, the Netherlands, are both
BREEAM certified. BREEAM is a worldwide renowned sustainability quality mark for buildings. One of its criteria is eco-management. Buildings are also checked on energy- and water consumption and how health and wellbeing is taken care of.
The total BREEAM rating is ranked 1 to 5 stars, with BREEAM Outstanding being the highest rating. The distribution center of Oldenburger|Fritom at De Zwaaikom 9 is certified according to BREEAM Outstanding. Our renovated distribution center at De Zwaaikom 24 was rated Excellent.
Oldenburger|Fritom uses the Lean Six Sigma method to achieve the sustainability targets of both our customers and ourselves. In the field of road transportation, for example, we focus on consolidated shipping. We also work with local suppliers as much as possible. As a result, Oldenburger|Fritom is able to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. In addition to road transportation, we also continuously focus on more efficient and sustainable air and sea freight shipments and intermodal transportation. We have received the Lean & Green Star Award for our efforts in this area.
Over a period of 5 years, we have reduced CO2 emissions by 20 percent. The award also took into account that both our own truck drivers and our partners use trucks with Euro 6 engines. In line with our continuous improvement strategy, we are constantly looking for ways to further reduce CO2 emissions. For example, we conduct research into electric transportation. In addition, all our drivers regularly follow a course in more fuel-efficient driving and safety.
