Food Bank Veendam

Thanks to the food bank in Veendam, food waste is prevented while families in the region are supported. Over 300 families rely on the support of this food bank. Oldenburger|Fritom supports this food bank financially, with equipment and by sharing our knowledge.

The foodbank in Veendam was founded in January 2009. The food bank is there for the residents of Veendam and its region, who are (temporarily) unable to meet their basic needs. The foundation has approximately 30 volunteers who ensure that more than 100 food packages are put together and offered once a week. The Dutch ‘Wheel of Five’ is incorporated as much as possible into the varied packages.

According to the mission and vision of the food bank, the focus is on helping the poorest in society. The food bank is therefore continuously strengthening the organization. This is done, among other things, through cooperation with other food banks, the municipality, emergency services, companies, supermarkets, churches, associations and residents. In this way, the food bank in Veendam wants to improve the position of the poorest of the poor.
