The technology company formerly known as PerkinElmer, Inc. was founded in America in 1937 and is headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts. The company's analytical instruments are used worldwide in, among others, the medical sector and the food industry. PerkinElmer employs approximately 14,000 people in 120 countries. The company holds 3,500 patents and has an Analytics Center of Excellence (ACoE).

The Dutch branch of PerkinElmer is located in Groningen, with branch offices in Drachten, Hoogvliet, Oss and Winschoten. In Groningen, cocktails are produced that convert radioactive elements into light. More than 50,000 shipments are sent around the globe every year.

The partnership between the Dutch branch of PerkinElmer and Oldenburger|Fritom was established in 2011. The technology company was looking for a flexible logistics partner for transportation to and from Germany. Since 2019, Oldenburger|Fritom also provides logistic solutions in the field of warehousing.

Not long after the coronavirus outbreak, the logistics expertise of Oldenburger|Fritom was again called upon. At the headquarters of PerkinElmer, it was decided to expand the production portfolio with COVID-19 test kits. The development took place in Germany and the manufacturing location is the branch of PerkinElmer in Groningen. From the branch in Winschoten millions of test kits are shipped all over the world. The destinations of these shipments are hospitals and similar organizations such as the Dutch GGD.

Oldenburger|Fritom was approached by PerkinElmer to store parts and to provide value added services for the COVID-19 test kits. In addition to warehousing activities, Oldenburger|Fritom also organizes the transportation to countries in the EU and the United Kingdom.
